All you need to do is spend five minutes with Mary Scott & Tim and you will not only know how smitten they are with each other, you will be equally smitten with them! They are one of the sweetest, cutest and most adorably-in-love couple I have had the pleasure of working with. My first glimpse of Tim & Mary Scott was shortly following Mary Scott’s first contact with me. She said, if you want to see how Tim proposed, just watch this video. So, of course, I did. This was a couple I had NOT EVEN MET YET. Yet, somehow, I was bawling by the time the video was over. Yeah, they kinda have that effect on people. They are totally precious. And if you have any doubt, just take a look at their engagement session we shot last fall.
So of course, I could hardly wait to document their day. I knew it would be nothing short of fabulous. And it did not disappoint!
Both Mary Scott & Tim are graduates of Wake Forest University, where they met and fell in love. Tim is currently in med school and Mary Scott also works in the medical field. Sounds like a pretty good pair to me! Surrounding them were lots of friends from college and growing up as well as lots of family. It really couldn’t have been more perfect. I started the day at Mary Scott’s home with all of the girls. The air was abuzz with excitement following them having their hair and makeup done by Bella Mia of Advance.
Of course, with no time to spare, my friend, Sara Wilson, and I got right to work with the details while the girls got dressed. Mary Scott chose to wear blue shoes as a sassy accent and a pair of timeless pearl earring that were borrowed from her aunt.
She wore Cashmere Mist perfume by Donna Karan and the Mrs. Brady hangar was a gift from a friend. Always the perfect touch!
Imagine Flowers of Winston-Salem completely out did themselves with the florals for the day. They were a beautiful punch of color and could not have been more striking! And did I mention they were peonies??? My personal favorite!
Time to get that dress on. And of course all of the girls were in complete and total awe. It really was stunning!
The dress was a white lace A-Line gown with straps and a v-neck. Lace covered every bit of the dress. Words simply cannot describe its perfection.
This lovely pearl necklace was a gift from Mary Scott to her bridesmaids along with the monogrammed t-shirts in the first shot above.
Helping Mary Scott into her dress were her mom and newly-engaged sister Susannah. Just a priceless moment filled with so much wonder and excitement.
The gorgeous coral dresses on the bridesmaids were from Anthropologie. Unbelievable rich color!
Did someone say excitement??? Yeah, the girl was a tad bit excited!
Absolutely love these two shots below with her mom.
Now it was dad’s turn. We kept shooing him away all day and finally he was allowed to come in and see his precious daughter.
In the meantime, Sara had headed over to hang out with the boys as they got dressed. Thankfully, Tim’s mom was there keeping things moving and in order! You know, sometimes those boys need a little corralling!
Meet our groom! Bundle of nerves? Not one bit. As buzzed up and ready to get married as his bride-to-be was!
With the beautiful bride all dressed, it was time to step outside for some portraits at her home first.
Oh. My. Goodness. Mary Scott, you could not be more lovely!
Tim had sent over a couple of gifts for Mary Scott to open. And they were even wrapped. Not in Target bags. Yes, I have seen it all in my day! Accompanying the gifts was a lengthy (OK, more like a novel) letter that had Mary Scott both in stitches and tears. He obviously knew what she needed to hear.
And of course, the paparazzi was there every step of the way!
First up, a World Cup Soccer shirt. I believe this was foreshadowing of a trip they will take in the future.
Next, a hand-crafted…yes all you boys out there…an honest to goodness, Etsy looking hand-crafted Bucket List book of things Tim and Mary Scott would do in their life together. How incredibly thoughtful is that??
And of course…page 1, get married!
With the boys dressed, they headed downtown to First Pres for some group shots. Wow, you fellas cleaned up quite nicely!
I love the shot above. Tim is a talker. I have a feeling he was totally holding court and entertaining his guys!
The girls headed over to Reynolda Gardens for some bridal portraits in the very place where Tim proposed. How incredibly appropriate!
Love the series below…can you tell the difference??? Oh, yes, it’s that tall bridesmaid on the end! Actually Mary Scott’s father photo bombing my shot!
The hour was upon us and we could not wait a moment longer!
Oh I do love an emotional groom! I had no doubt on this one!
Without a doubt, my favorite part of the ceremony was the period of time after the prayer above and when the minister said “You may kiss your bride.” I literally thought Mary Scott was going to explode. She was bouncing up and down on her toes with so much excitement. The entire place could feel her joy!
Afterwards I was able to spend a few quiet moments alone with the two of them while their guests headed to the reception. This is something I always request to do so that their immediate emotions are captured and can be part of the documentation of their day. I’m always so grateful for my couples that allow me to take this time with them.
Clearly, their joy was hard to keep a cap on!
Now it’s off to Old Town Country Club for an evening of celebration.
One word for the light that evening. YUM!!
One of my most favorite shots below. So perfect.
And yes, by request…the bridal party wanted to jump. They outnumbered me by far, so I relented. Super cute, I must say. And even cuter is the tight shot Sara snagged of Tim lifting Mary Scott during the jump…kinda hard for a bride in all of that lace to jump!
The food at Old Town Club was absolutely divine. They never disappoint.
Love the vintage typewriter that was placed in the reception area for guests to type notes of love and advice to the new couple.
The cake, created by Let Me Call You Sweet Art, has just won my Most Tasty Cake of the Year Award. As the photographer with a definite sweet tooth, I figure it’s my duty to try a little piece of the yummies! I can honestly say this was not only a beautiful cake but so incredibly delicious. To-die-for buttercream frosting!
The traditional first dance was shared and then a dance with her dad and his mom followed.
Time for the bouquet & garter toss. And there were lots and lots of girls and guys lining up for a chance!
Music for the evening was provided by Soul Psychedelic out of Raleigh. Awesome band with a great sound! Highly recommend!
Tim used his Dad’s gorgeous BMW convertible as their getaway car. How perfect!
They are off to a week of relaxation in the Dominican Republic! So incredibly blessed and honored to work with these two families on the photography for this wedding. It was nothing short of a treat to be involved in the process with them and especially to share in the great joy that accompanied the day. My job is an absolute breeze when I am surrounded by folks who are truly gracious and appreciative of the parts everyone plays in making a wedding day go smoothly. There is no better feeling than to know that you have contributed a lasting part of someone’s life. My dearest and deepest congratulations go out to Tim and Mary Scott. Best wishes for a long life of happiness together!
