Meredith and Joe were married a few weeks ago at the beautiful and historic Augsburg Lutheran Church in downtown Winston-Salem. Meredith’s family have long been members of the church, so it was only natural that this be the site of her wedding.
I loved photographing their day for several reasons. First, Meredith and Joe are a couple that are absolutely and totally smitten with each other. They have so much adoration and also admiration for each other. Respect is such a key element in a successful relationship and I know their marriage will triumph because of the way they treat each other. I honestly think each of them thinks they are the LUCKIEST person in the world because they have found the other. So incredibly sweet and refreshing!
The other reason I thought their day was special is that so much thought went in to all of the details of the day. The significance of each detail was thought out before it was integrated into the day. Pinterest didn’t totally prevail! Instead, great thought was given and the day was so wonderfully warm and special.
Here is a look inside their day which began at the church.
Amy Parrish at Pilot Mountain Flower Shop did an absolutely AMAZING job on the flowers for the day. Meredith wanted a bright and colorful burst of red and yellow color and boy, did she get that! Such pretty arrangements full of brilliant color and interesting flowers and greenery.
Meredith and her bridal party were finishing up some details when I arrived. Penny Scott Hair Productions did an beautiful job on the bridal party’s hair and Updo’s in Kernersville was on hand to get the makeup just perfect.
Meredith is by far one of the most thoughtful ladies that I know of. She has so much genuine appreciation and love for her friends. She carefully planned out gifts for all of them as well as the flower girls. Her kind spirit just enveloped the entire day.
Meredith’s ivory lace dress, by Allure, was so perfectly made for her. The fitted, intricately embroidered bodice with Swarovski crystal beading accented her tee tiny figure and the dropped waist and full English net skirt and train were absolutely stunning.
All the while, Joe was in a room on the other side of the church taking a few moments to write a note to Meredith to accompany her gift. Thanks to my friend and fellow photographer, Grant Blair, for working with Joe and his guys to make them feel comfortable and relaxed as he second shot this wedding with me.
Meredith was closing in on tears from the emotion of the day in the shot above. So what do her girlfriends do? They put on a little “Jump Around” on the iPod. This Tarheel girl knows EXACTLY what to do when that plays! Way to take her mind off the stress of the day ladies!
And one of Joe’s groomsmen made a special delivery just for Meredith from Joe.
Inside, the guests were beginning to arrive and the ceremony was about to begin.
Following family formal pictures in the sanctuary, the entire bridal party headed to Salem Glen Golf & Country Club for the reception.
Music for the evening was provided by Chuck Marsh Entertainment. Shout out to Chuck for keeping the dance floor filled all night long!
I loved Heather’s story about Meredith informing her of her relationship with Joe. As Winston-Salem is NOT that big, Heather actually knew of Joe’s family when Meredith told her about their relationship. Her reaction…Oh! Joe is my favorite Harris! (remember, there are 4 Harris boys!) Don’t think Joe didn’t LOVE hearing that!
After some dancing, the guests moved outside to release almost 100 lanterns to the sky in celebration of Meredith and Joe’s union. Breathtakingly beautiful!
Followed by a sparkler departure!
Perfect way to end a fabulous evening! Meredith and Joe, thank you for asking me to share your beautiful wedding day with you! What an honor and privilege! I wish for you many years of love and happiness together!
